I was the winner for the Midwest reigonal speech contest hosted by Western Michigan University. Along with the recognition of my Chinese abilities, I was also awarded a $5,000 scholarship to Western Michigan University should I attend. I loved this experience, and because of this regional competition, I was able to attend the Chinese Bridge competition!
The Chinese Counsulate in Chicago hosts the annual Short Video Competition. I participated in 2021, the fall of my 8th grade year. The topic that year was Happy Family. I won the Best Chinese Speaker Award.

The OPI (oral proficiency interview) is a Chinese language test to assess your Chinese speaking ability. I have tested twice. The first time I was awarded the Advanced Low reconignition, and the second time I was awarded Advanced Mid recognition.
The HSK is an international standardized test for Chinese language proficiency. It has three sections: listening, reading, and writing. I have tested the HSK once. It was the older model of the test. I wasn't able to select the level of the test. The entire class took HSK 4 at school together. I got a near perfect score.
